ABOUT

Hi, I'm Miranda.

I come from a multidisciplinary academic background and have a strong commitment to sustainable practices and advancing social/environmental justice through the intersection of research-driven design and storytelling. I hold a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from Middlebury College. I am currently based in Somerville, MA.

My methodology places precedence on understanding the contexts in which any project takes place. I recognize that no system operates in a vacuum, that the answer to “why” is not black-and-white, and that there are stories to be told about those whose experiences have been overlooked. I believe in designing with, not for, the land, ecology, and community where design intervention is taking place. I understand the importance of a well-engineered, geologically sound foundation for the success of design projects, and communicate in the languages of earth science and landscape architecture.

Past projects include a geology thesis employing previously-unused research methods, a multi-year educational 5K, and contextually-informed storytelling through conceptual landscape installations and designs — all aimed at better understanding how the world we live in came to be, the ways others’ experiences might differ from our own, and what we can do to move towards a more resilient, equitable, and informed way of living.
